What is a Canopy Tour about?

The Canopy Tour consists of a series of platforms suspended in hugh trees in our Jungle.

Guides help participants use high-angle equipment and techniques to slide over traverse cables with the help of pulleys and climbing harnesses. These climbing harnesses are the type used in rock climbing and allow you to sit in them as if they are chairs.

We have 13 platforms, 7 traverse cables, a Tarzan Swing, 3-storey Tree house, two hanging bridges and a vertical descent (rappel) at the end for the truly adventurous.

Our tour elements are situated up to a 120 feet above the ground.

What should I wear?

Please wear comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting a bit dirty.

We recommend wearing shorts, T-shirt and tennis shoes. You can use long pants, but remember we are located in a warm climate! Please don't use skirts or dresses. I recommend using closed-toe shoes, however strap-on sandals can be used too.

During the rainy season it is best to bring some rain gear.

What should I bring?

Be sure to take you camera or video recorder with you! We offer you insect repellent on the tour, so you don't need to bring that. We also offer bottled water and tropical fruits in the tour, so you don't need to carry that with you neither.

Photos and some souvenirs are available for sale at the site. You may carry a small backpack on the tour if you wish. But please keep in mind that anything you take on the tour must be carried by you all the way in a manner that leaves your hands free. So when zipping over the cables make sure your stuff is stashed away in an adequate storage device. We are not responsible for loss or damage to personal property and we cannot recover items that are dropped.

Will we see wildlife?

Wildlife is very unpredictable, you never know what we will encounter! There are whitefaced capuchin monkeys in our reserve, usually we see toucans and aracaris (a colorful bird). Together with the help of the guides you may spot countless species of flora and fauna during the tours, just keep your eyes open!

Do you still do tours even if it rains?

Yes, the Canopy Tour operates in all weather conditions except when there is lightning overhead, we'll just wait for awhile until lighting dears.

You know, a little rain makes the tour more exciting!

Can my children do the tour?

We take children from 8 years and older on the Canopy Tour and on the Jungle Adventure Challenge. We do need their parent or guardian to go with them.

Do I have to be strong to able to do the tour?

Our Canopy Tour does not demand great physical ability. Prior clientele ranged from the minimum age of 8 years to 84.

All of them experienced the thrill of a lifetime in a safely manner.

This tour is not recommended for persons who are pregnant or those with heart problems or seizure disorders.

The minimum physical requirements to participate in the tour are the ability to walk 15 minutes uphill and up steps and to be able to raise your arms for breaking on the cables and to be able to raise your legs when coming in at the platforms.

Also you must fit safely in the harness, this will be determined by the guides. The maximum weight limit is 125 kilos (260 pounds).

We reserves the right to deny any person from participating in the Canopy Tour while under the influence of alcohol, drugs or other mind altering substances. Your safety, as well as others on the tour, is our main concern.

I am afraid of heights, can I still participate?

Fear of heights is normal and most people feel nervous at the beginning of the tour. Usually after having done the first 2 cables, almost everybody feels comfortable with flying through the forest. The great surroundings and views, together with a bit of adrenaline makes it the best tour you have ever taken!

Those people who have fear of heights tell us afterwards that the tour was rewarding and that they are glad to have experienced it.

Also you experience height standing on a platform in a tree different then on, for example, standing on a tower. It seems less high, easier end less stressful.

Our guides are specially trained to help you both physically and emotionally through the tour. We never push, if you have the desire and courage to take the first step, we'll support you the whole way.

Do I need to make reservations?

We recommend making reservations in advance. Our tours are very popular and we do not want you to miss out on them!

I do not want to do the tour, can I do something else?

Yes, you can find several alternatives in this website at ground level! Also people participating in the Canopy Tour pass several times over the trails. Just hang out in the forest to observe them flying over!
